Announcing pvc_users_info TextPattern Plugin

7.August.2008 | 3 Comments

Hot on the heals of my first contributions to a WordPress plugin, I also just released my first TextPattern plugin: pvc_users_info. (TextPattern plugins follow this ridiculously boring naming convention, sorry). While it may have been a bit strange working on plugins for two different CMSes simultaneously, I am work on multiple projects in different media nearly everyday. So jumping back and forth between WordPress and TextPattern plugin coding was no sweat.

Pvc_users_info provides a fairly substantial feature set, one that should probably be part of the TextPattern core. It allows several types of data, basically a profile, to be associated with each account (aka. user) set up in TextPattern. Once installed and after profiles are created you can then use tags provided by the plugin to out that content anywhere in your design. For example you create a bio for each user and spit that back out on any page that user authored.

Nice Peter! It sounds like you are a serious expert on working with CMSes now. I’m sure having a background in multiple systems is very useful.

Maybe, someday, I’ll be able to add FireFly to that list ;-)
